9 May 2009 - CITY of DUNDEE BA 111 v 146 BUCHAN BA - RESULT
There was one alteration to the line-up from the original selection - Callum Brunton moved to skip with George Beat playing at third.
Despite starting well, in what were atrocious weather conditions, the opening match of the Scottish Cities & Counties Championship 2009 Series for the Andrew Hamilton Trophy ended in bitter disappointment for the 'City' side, as they were soundly beaten by their more northerly counterparts. Wins for the rinks skipped by Roger Smith & Callum Brunton were the only bright spots in an otherwise disappointing display on a day where the weather conditions of driving rain & cold made bowling very difficult.
Rink Scores: (City of Dundee skips first)
R. Smith beat M. Stephen 23-13, C. Brunton beat D. Anderson 23-22, R. Barlow lost to D. Murray 25-33, K. Brunton lost to D. A. Hay 10-26, R. Carlin lost to I. A. Milne 22-32, H. Grieve lost to D. Alexander 8-20.

16 May 2009 - CITY of DUNDEE BA 99 v 130 ANGUS BA - RESULT
A second home defeat in succession for the City of Dundee BA. That was the outcome following the latest round of games in the 2009 Andrew Hamilton Trophy series.
There were no alterations made, so the team lined up as announced earlier this week.
Once again, this will be considered by the 'City' as an opportunity of gaining a positive result missed as, although the final result was clear cut at the end, the 'City' team did manage to get to within touching distance of their opponents midway through the game, despite starting the game slowly.
There were rink wins for 'City' skips Davie Brand on his return to the team & Kevin Brunton, but the Angus side had enough quality throughout to ensure they finished the game comfortably ahead.
Rink Scores: (City of Dundee skips first)
D. Brand beat B. Milne 22-16, H. Grieve lost to A. Baillie 15-30, K. Brunton beat P. Carnegie 25-10, C. Brunton lost to D. Swankie 11-24, R. Barlow lost to A. Furye 9-29, R. Smith lost to G. Stewart 17-21.

23 May 2009 - NORTHERN COUNTIES BA 116 v 104 CITY of DUNDEE BA - RESULT
There were several personnel & positional changes made to the team line-up announced earlier this week, due to non-availability of players. The side lined up as follows:
Rink 1 - K. Smith, T. Hume, A. Nairn, K. Brunton

Rink 5 - L. Hunter, R. Duell, B. Morris, R. Smith
Rink 6 - J. Mulholland, A. Crighton, E. Mason, C. Brunton
For the third week in succession, the weather conditions encountered by the players were abysmal with the second half of the game being played in torrential rain.
Although the Northern Counties side were quickly out of the blocks, the 'City' side soon pegged back this lead and then moved ahead. By the halfway mark they lead by around 15 shots and were seemingly, on their way to picking up their first 2 points of the season. Then came the rain! The conditions changed dramatically & the Northern Counties side were slowly eating into the 'City' lead. There were a couple of big turnaround shots played and suddenly the Northern Counties side had the momentum - and the lead! The ends were rapidly running out and the 'City' side had lost the game, a game they had seemed likely to win after 60 ends. The weather though, had made a major impact and left the 'City' side still seeking their first victory of the season.
Although the individual rink scores were all reasonably close, the only 'City' rink to record a win was skipped by Roger Smith.
Rink Scores: (Northern Counties skips first)
B. McKay beat K. Brunton 21-13, S. McCrae beat J. Aimer 20-16, S. Christie lost to R. Smith 15-28, M. Murray beat G. Beat 15-13, L. Wiliamson beat R. Barlow 21-19, K. McKay beat C. Brunton 24-15.

30 May 2009 - CITY of DUNDEE BA 103 v 114 BON ACCORD BA - RESULT
There was one alteration, along with one positional change to the line-up from the original selection - Colin Ramsay coming back into the side, playing third to Richard Barlow in place of Calvin Mulholland, who was unavailable, whilst in Rink 4, John Wright & Graham Haddow swapped lead & second positions in the rink skipped by George Beat.
The 'City' suffered yet another set back in their quest to achieve a victory & possibly lift themselves from the foot of the table.
Despite a fairly even start to the game, 'The City' managed to grab a slight lead after around 50 ends. They were however, ultimately defeated in what turned out to be a relatively comfortable win for the side from Aberdeen.
On a glorious sunny afternoon & on a very quick surface, there was to be only one winning rink for 'The City', that skipped by George Beat who finished 20 shots ahead of their opponents.
Rink Scores: (City of Dundee skips first)
G. Beat beat K. Harper 30-10, C. Brunton lost to D. Farquarson 17-20, R. Smith lost to L. Collins 11-27, R. Barlow lost to A. Rough 11-18, K. Brunton drew with R. Henry 17-17, J. Aimer lost to S. Thomson 17-22.

Rink 6 - J. Mulholland, R. Duell, E. Mason, D. Brand
The 'City' finally gained their first point of the season against top of the table & previously unbeaten A & K. The game score was close throughout the match with the lead changing on more than one occassion. A & K got off to the quicker start but the 'City' soon pegged back that early lead & went in front. At the half-way mark, the 'City' lead by a single point 64-65 but A & K once again moved ahead. The 'City' however were not to be outdone & surged back into the game. With the final end of the last rink playing, the 'City' were one shot ahead overall. Jim Roddie's rink were however, lying one shot against the 'City' rink skipped by Richard Barlow, with both skips having a bowl to play. With A & K skip Jim, drawing a second shot with his final bowl, A & K were ahead by a shot. Richard though played a super running bowl to remove one of the lying bowls meaning the match ended all square.
Rink Scores: (A & K skips first)

13 June 2009 - CITY of DUNDEE BA 121 v 127 HIGHLAND BA - RESULT
Despite another much improved performance from the 'City of Dundee' team, the penultimate match in the 2009 Cities & Counties Championships ended in defeat, against a strong Highland BA outfit.
The match score remained very close throughout the game with Highland always holding the upper hand. The 'City' team though, were always in the hunt but could not find the extra surge that would have given them the lead & therefore putting the opposition under real pressure.
As it was, the team from the north would pull ahead every time the 'City' side threatened to overhaul their lead and at the finish, won the match by six shots. On another day, the result may have gone the other way but on this occasion, it was the 'City' side left disappointed once again.
Rink Scores: (City of Dundee skips first)
D. Brand beat G. Donaldson 26-20, R. Barlow beat S. Noon 26-20, K. Brunton beat K. Beaton 20-19, R. Smith lost to I. Milne 22-23, G. Beat lost to M. Stepney 13-22, H. Grieve lost to S. Cruickshank 14-23.

20 June 2009 - PERTHSHIRE BA 152 v 82 CITY of DUNDEE BA - RESULT
There was one enforced change to the team line-up announced earlier this week. Mark Thomson was unavailable due to personal reasons & his place was filled by Tony Hume.
The final game of the 2009 Cities & Counties Championships against Perthshire BA at Auchterarder BC turned into a disaster for the 'City' team.
In a one-sided contest, the match was effectively over at the half-way stage. Despite wins in the two rinks skipped by Richard Barlow & Harry Grieve, the remaining four games were won at a canter by the team from Perthshire.
This defeat ended what was a very disappointing season for the 'City'. Without a win in the seven games & humiliated by a side who only managed 4 points over the course of the season themselves! Let's hope that there is a marked improvement for next season when the Andrew Hamilton Trophy will be contested once again.
Rink Scores: (Perthshire skips first)
I. Miller beat C. Brunton 34-6, D. Lambert beat K. Brunton 26-13, G. Lennon beat D. Brand 27-11, P. Hosie beat R. Smith 34-3, D. Hendry lost to R. Barlow 16-28, R. Brown lost to H. Grieve 15-21.
